Topic: Anti-platelet agents

Antiplatelet agents are medicines that reduce the ability of platelets to stick together (called platelet aggregation) and inhibit the formation of viscous blood.

Classification of drugs: 

1. Cyclooxygenase/TX2 synthase inhibitors: Aspirin

2. Adenosine di phosphate (ADP) receptor inhibitors:

a) Irreversible: Clopidogrel, Ticlopidine

b) Reversible: Prasugrel, Ticagrelor, Cangrelor

3. Phosphodiesterase inhibitors: Dipyridamole PDE-3 inhibitor, Cilostazol

4. Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors: Abciximab, Eptifibatide, Tirofiban, Defibrotide
