Topic: Anti-depressant drugs

Antidepressants are medications used to treat major depressive disorder, some anxiety disorders, some chronic pain conditions, and to help manage some addictions.

Classification of drugs:

1. Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors: Phenelzine, Selegiline, Tranylcypromine

2. Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs):

i) NA+5-HT reuptake inhibitor: Imipramine, Trimipramine, Amitriptyline, Doxepin

ii) Predominantly NA reuptake inhibitors: Desipramine, Nortriptyline, Reboxetine

3. Atypical Antidepressants: Buproprion, Mirtazapine, Nefazodone, Trazodone

4. Selective Serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs): Citalopram, Escitalopram, Fluoxetine Paroxetine, Sertraline

5. 5-HT / NE Reuptake Inhibitors (SNRIs): Duloxetine, Venlafaxine
